JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – State troopers said a pickup truck was involved in a fatal collision with a homemade Amish buggy in Johnson County.
According to a KCTV report, the accident happened Wednesday evening on Route O north of SW 745th Road shortly after 5:30 p.m.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the driver of a 2011 Dodge Ram crashed into the back of the buggy as both vehicles were heading south. The buggy came to rest on top of the horse that was pulling it, and the pickup stopped in the roadway.
Both people in the buggy were ejected from the vehicle. The passenger, 20-year-old Katie Kemp, was pronounced dead after being taken to Research Medical Center. The driver, 22-year-old Chris Kemp, was hospitalized with minor injuries. The two are from Holden, Missouri.
