News: Woman, 69, dies in rollover accident on Missouri H in Bates County

BATES COUNTY, MO – State troopers were called to a fiery crash that killed a driver in Bates County on Thursday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred on Missouri Route H near County Road 9503 at 10:42 a.m.

The MSHP’s initial investigation determined that the driver of a 2008 Toyota Rav 4 was heading eastbound when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and then returned to the roadway.  The driver then overcorrected and went off the left side of Missouri H, where the vehicle struck two trees, overturned and caught fire.

The driver, a 69-year-old woman from Montrose, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene.  It was not yet clear whether she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the fatal wreck.

The Bates County Sheriff’s Office assisted troopers in the crash response and investigation.
