KANSAS CITY, MO – The two victims of a fatal wreck in Kansas City last month have now been identified, the Hays Post reports.
The Kansas City Police Department said the two people killed were the driver, 68-year-old Mark Hatcher, and his front-seat passenger, 61-year-old Karen Hatcher.
The incident took place Sept. 25 when Mark Hatcher lost control of a Jeep Cherokee while driving south on Interstate 435 near Front Street at about 9:20 a.m.
The Jeep went off the interstate and down a grassy embankment in the vicinity of Executive Drive and Universal Plaza Drive, a commercial warehouse area northeast of I-435. The Jeep then went through a fence and across the parking lot of a business before colliding with the front of a parked semi-trailer.
The driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. They were both wearing seat belts.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. It was reported that the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the accident.
