KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City, Missouri police released an update on a fatal crash that took place at a university building on Friday afternoon, Feb. 13.
According to the Salina Post, the man killed in the wreck has been identified as 34-year-old Sterling A. Roaf.
The wreck took place in the area of Rockhurst Road and Virginia Avenue at about 2:40 p.m. An initial investigation revealed that Roaf was driving a Nissan Murano south on Virginia Avenue at a high rate of speed and went through a posted stop sign at the intersection.
The Nissan collided with a parked, unoccupied Jeep Wrangler on the side of the road, then kept going south and went over a curb. The Nissan veered up a hill, started to roll and struck the Corcoran Building at Rockhurst University.
Roaf was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. No one else was in the vehicle. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
