CLAY COUNTY, MO – A driver heading in the wrong direction was involved in a fatal wreck in Clay County on Saturday afternoon, Fox 4 KC reported.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver had stolen a vehicle in Gladstone earlier in the day and at one point was being pursued by the Gladstone Police Department.
The suspect was going southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway of I-29 shortly after 4 p.m. and struck another vehicle head-on between Vivion Road and U.S. Highway 169. A total of four vehicles were involved in the crash.
A passenger in the vehicle that was hit was pronounced dead at the scene, while both drivers were hospitalized in critical condition.
