JACKSON COUNTY, MO – A driver was killed when his vehicle was involved in a crash in Jackson County on Tuesday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
State troopers responded to Missouri Route F south of J W Cummins Road after the incident was reported at about 8:45 a.m.
The MSHP determined that the driver of a Kawasaki MWS made a left turn to head south on Route F when the vehicle pulled into the path of a Jeep Compass. The Jeep struck the back of the Kawasaki, causing the Kawasaki to go off the road and collide with a tree.
The Kawasaki driver, an 87-year-old man from Oak Grove, Missouri, was pronounced dead after being taken to Centerpoint Medical Center. A passenger in the Kawasaki, a 74-year-old man also from Oak Grove, was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.
The Jeep driver, a 65-year-old Oak Grove man, was treated at the scene and released.
