News: Lee’s Summit man killed when motorcycle collides with truck

LEE’S SUMMIT, MO – Police in Lee’s Summit were called to the scene of a fatal accident involving a motorcycle on Thursday night, according to the Kansas City Star.

 

An investigation determined that the motorcycle rider was going south on Northeast Chipman Road at about 7:45 p.m. and collided with a truck turning north from Northeast Chipman onto Northeast Todd George Road.

 

The two vehicles both caught fire as a result of the crash. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead after being transported to an area trauma center. He was identified as 32-year-old Benjamin A. Zumwalt of Lee’s Summit. Paramedics evaluated the truck driver, who declined to be taken to the hospital.

 

Police are continuing their investigation into the wreck.
