News: Hit-and-run crash at Benton Boulevard and E 31st Street injures 3

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police said a collision caused by a speeding driver at a Kansas City intersection left three people injured, reports the Kansas City Star.

The wreck happened early Tuesday morning after the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado was going at high speed on East 31st Street and went through a red traffic light at Benton Boulevard at about 2:45 a.m.  According to investigators, the Silverado crashed into a Ford F-150 which had a green light at the intersection. The impact sent both vehicles through an iron fence and then into Leon M. Jordan Memorial Park.

Three people in the Ford were injured, two critically, and were taken to an area hospital.  The occupants of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot.  The Chevrolet was reported to have been stolen out of Independence, police said.
