BENGTON COUNTY, MO – A two-vehicle collision in Benton County on Tuesday morning left one of the drivers hospitalized, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
State troopers were dispatched to Missouri Highway H east of Hites Point Avenue shortly after 9:20 a.m. The MSHP determined that the driver of a 2018 Ford F-150 was heading west and failed to negotiate a curve to the left of the roadway. The Ford began an uncontrolled skid on the ice-covered pavement and traveled off the left side of the road.
The vehicle struck a 2005 Ford Ranger, which was stationary and on its passenger side as the result of a previous crash. The Ford F-150 and the Ranger both came to an uncontrolled final rest off the right side of the roadway.
The driver of the Ranger, an 80-year-old man from Lincoln, Missouri, was seriously injured and transported by an air ambulance to University of Missouri Hospital – Columbia. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time the wreck occurred.
