KANSAS CITY, MO – A driver was killed in a collision with a parked vehicle in Kansas City early Saturday morning, Fox 4 KC reported.
The fatal wreck happened in the area of Red Bridge Road and Harrison Street near Kansas City Fire Department Station 28 shortly before 1 a.m. The Kansas City Police Department’s preliminary investigation found that the driver of a Nissan Altima was traveling west on E. Red Bridge Road and struck a Ford F-450 boom truck that was parked in a work zone.
The Altima driver, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead after he was taken to an area hospital. Police said the boom truck had its emergency lights on and was surrounded by traffic cones at the time of the crash.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
