News: 1 dead, 1 injured in crash near Manchester Trafficway in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police said one driver was killed and another injured following a collision in Kansas City on Sunday morning, KSHB reports.

Investigators said one of the motorists was driving a Volkswagen Jetta at high speed eastbound on Interstate 70 at about 7:10 a.m. The Volkswagen struck the rear end of a Jeep Laredo near the Manchester Trafficway exit.

The impact caused the Volkswagen to overturn and roll several times. The driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified by authorities as 27-year-old Irwin Becerra. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.

The driver of the Jeep sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, and was hospitalized in stable condition.

Eastbound I-70 was shut down at Manchester Avenue for about two hours during the crash response and investigation.
