News: Car fleeing Kansas City police collides with Z-trip vehicle, killing passenger

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police said a passenger in a Z-Trip vehicle died after it was struck by a stolen car in Kansas City Wednesday night.

 

KSHB reports the driver of a Dodge Caliber was being pursued by police after the vehicle was stolen in a carjacking near 45th Street and Cleveland Avenue.

 

As the chase continued onto Truman Road, the driver of the Dodge crashed into a Toyota Scion used by Z-Trip near the intersection with Prospect Avenue at about 5:30 p.m.

 

A 38-year-old woman riding in the Toyota was thrown from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A 15-year-old boy in the stolen car was critically injured. Neither of the two drivers was seriously injured.

 

The 17-year-old boy driving the Dodge Caliber was taken into police custody.

 

The area of East Truman Road and Prospect Avenue was closed in all directions while Kansas City police were conducting their investigation.
