BATES COUNTY, MO – Four people were injured in a single-vehicle accident in Bates County on Sunday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The MSHP’s initial investigation determined that the driver of a 2000 Ford Windstar minivan was heading north on SE County Road 2275 at about 5 a.m. The driver lost control and went off the roadway, and the Ford ended up in the Marais Des Cygnes River.
Two passengers, a 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both from Harrisonville, were seriously injured and flown to Research Medical Center. The driver, a 20-year-old man from El Dorado Springs, Missouri, and another passenger, a 22-year-old man from Belton, Missouri, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Bates County Memorial Hospital.
None of the occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
