News: 2 injured when stolen pickup truck rear-ends car in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, MO – Two people were injured in a collision involving a stolen pickup truck in Independence on Monday, police said.

 

According to KMBC, police officers began following the truck with four people inside in the vicinity of 23rd Street and Hardy Avenue and tried to stop it. At that point, police said the driver sped away westbound on 23rd and the pursuing officer stopped following it.

 

The driver of the pickup subsequently rear-ended a car near 23rd Street and Ralston Avenue. Two people in the car were injured and hospitalized, but were expected to survive.

 

The four people in the stolen pickup were all taken into custody.
