JACKSON COUNTY, MO – A rear-end collision in Jackson County on Monday night sent both drivers to the hospital.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s accident report states that the two-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 70 west near Missouri 7 in Blue Springs at about 9:15 p.m.
According to state troopers, the driver of a 2011 Hyundai Veracruz struck the back of a 2010 Ford Escape, causing the Hyundai to travel off the right side of the roadway and collide with the face of a guardrail.
The Hyundai driver, a 52-year-old woman from Lathrop, Missouri, and the driver of the Ford, an 88-year-old woman from Raytown, Missouri, both suffered moderate injuries and were transported to Research Medical Center.
The MSHP was assisted at the scene by the Blue Springs Police Department.
