News: 1 driver killed, 1 injured in high-speed collision in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Kansas City Police Department said one driver was killed and another injured when their vehicles collided on Friday night.

According to KSHB, the incident happened near the intersection of Linwood Boulevard and Jackson Avenue.  Police said a Chevrolet Camaro and a Kia Sportage crashed as both were going at extremely high speeds.

An investigation found that the Camaro driver was making a left turn from Linwood Boulevard to Jackson Avenue at about 9:35 p.m. when the car was struck by the Kia as it headed south.

The impact sent the Kia up a hill on the corner of Linwood, where it overturned and landed upside down on a parked vehicle.  The driver of the Camaro was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Kia was listed in stable condition after being transported to the hospital.
