KANSAS CITY, MO – Emergency crews were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle collision that snarled traffic in Kansas City on Friday morning, according to a KCTV report.
The incident took place along westbound Interstate 70 east of the Truman Sports Complex shortly before 7:30 a.m. Three semi-trucks were reported to have been involved in the wreck, with one of them catching fire. One person was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.
All westbound lanes of I-70 were shut down near the Blue Ridge Cutoff in the vicinity of Sterling Avenue and Highway 40, with the on-ramp to westbound I-70 from Blue Ridge Boulevard also closed.
The closures resulted in extensive backups during the morning rush-hour while the crash was being cleared.
