BATES COUNTY, MO – A man has been charged with driving under the influence following a deadly crash in Bates County early Monday morning, according to a KMZU report.
The wreck occurred along Missouri Route 52 shortly after 1:30 a.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol determined that the driver of an SUV crossed over the center line at the intersection with County Road 3502 and drove off the roadway. The vehicle overturned and collided with a tree.
A passenger, a 35-year-old woman from San Luis, Arizona, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified by authorities as 37-year-old Orlando Alejandre Solis of San Luis, Arizona, faces a felony charge of driving while intoxicated causing the death of another person.
A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of Solis at his initial arraignment on Tuesday. Bond was set at $100,000 cash only.
