News: Scooter rider hit by vehicle in Independence hit-and-run collision

INDEPENDENCE, MO – A search is underway for the hit-and-run driver who struck a scooter rider in Independence early Wednesday morning.

 

Fox 4 KC reports the crash occurred on 23rd Street near Woodbury Street shortly before 1:30 a.m. Investigators said a man riding on a motorized scooter was struck by an unknown vehicle heading west.

 

The rider was taken to an area hospital with what were reported to be life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene.

 

Anyone with further information on the incident was asked to contact the Independence Police Department or the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers.
