LIBERTY, MO – A motorcyclist died after colliding with a vehicle on Missouri 291 in Liberty on Tuesday afternoon, KSHB reported.
The Liberty Police Department said the rider of a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling south at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred at about 1:51 p.m. The motorcyclist improperly passed two vehicles on the highway and then struck a northbound 2015 GMC Terrain that was making a turn into a driveway.
The motorcycle rider, identified as 35-year-old John King of Independence, was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital.
The southbound lanes of Missouri 291 were closed from West Kansas Street to past the crash scene during the accident response. The wreck is being investigated by the Liberty Police Department and the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.
