News: Accident involving cattle trailer shuts down stretch of I-70 near Oak Grove

OAK GROVE, MO – Authorities responded to a crash on Interstate 70 involving two semi-trucks on Wednesday morning, including a cattle trailer.

According to a KMBC report, the incident occurred on I-70 westbound near Oak Grove, where the tractor-trailers collided at about 10:30 a.m.  The cattle trailer went off the interstate and struck crossover cables, while the other truck went off the right side of the roadway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said neither driver was injured in the incident but about a dozen cattle escaped from the trailer and had to be rounded up.

I-70 was shut down in both directions in the aftermath of the crash, which remains under investigation by state troopers. All lanes were reopened after several hours.
