INDEPENDENCE, MO – Police in Independence said a two-vehicle collision on Saturday evening sent a motorcyclist to the hospital, KCTV reports.
The crash happened at 3710 South Noland Road, where first responders arrived at about 7:10 p.m. An investigation determined that the driver of a Hyundai Kona SUV was trying to pull out of a parking lot at that location and was hit on the driver’s side by an oncoming Yamaha motorcycle. The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was seriously injured.
Police said the motorcycle rider had been riding north on Noland Road in a careless manner prior to the accident. The Hyundai driver was not injured, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Noland Road was closed for about an hour for the accident response and investigation.
