KANSAS CITY, MO – A woman has been sentenced in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian in Kansas City in June 2020, KSHB reports.
This is an update to a previous story.
24-year-old Shabazz Frencher of Kansas City was sentenced to eight years in prison for causing death as the result of driving while intoxicated, and seven years for the leaving the scene of a crash involving death. The sentences will run concurrently and she will receive credit for 55 days already served.
Frenchester pleaded guilty to the two felonies in March. Authorities said she was drag racing down Main Street with another vehicle at nearly twice the speed limit when she struck and killed 23-year-old Zahara Kathawalla, who was crossing the street. Frencher was captured on security cameras fleeing the scene of the crash in her vehicle.
