KANSAS CITY, MO – A woman has pleaded guilty in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian in Kansas City in June 2020, according to KSHB.
Authorities said Shabazz Frencher was drag racing down Main Street at nearly twice the speed limit when she struck and killed 23-year-old Zahara Kathawalla, who was crossing the street.
Frencher pleaded guilty to several charges, including driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene a crash resulting in death. In exchange for the guilty pleas, charges of involuntary manslaughter and driving with a revoked or suspended license were dropped.
Frencher will be sentenced on June 10, and faces a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison.
