News: Wrong-way collision on I-49 leaves 4 adults, 5 children injured

KANSAS CITY, MO – A crash involving a wrong-way driver on Interstate 49 Sunday morning left nine people injured, reports KCTV.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the driver of a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country was headed south on I-49 south of Anderson at about 11:20 a.m. when he veered into the northbound lane.  The Chrysler collided with a northbound 2011 Ford Escape.

 

The driver of the Chrysler, 34-year-old Tony J. Robleado of Kansas City, and three passengers, 36-year-old Krixa Mendoza and two boys ages 6 and 7 were transported to hospitals in Joplin.  The driver of the Ford, 29-year-old Darwin L. Martinez, and four passengers, 25-year-old Caitlyn Lacy, and three boys ages 13, 10 and 8, were flown to hospitals in Springfield, Missouri.  All nine of the injured victims were reported to be in serious condition.
