News: Kansas City woman dies after being hit by pickup truck on U.S. 40 Highway

INDEPENDENCE, MO – The Independence Police Department is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred early Saturday morning.

 

A report by WDAF states that the incident happened along U.S. 40 near Crysler Avenue.  According to police, a woman was in the road at about 2 a.m. when she was struck by a 2003 Ford F-150 heading eastbound. A witness said she was walking in the lane of traffic at the time.

 

The victim, identified as 40-year-old Janeicka Hays of Kansas City, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Police said the driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
