KANSAS CITY, MO – Police are investigating whether impairment was a factor in a crash in Kansas City Sunday morning that left three people injured, according to the Kansas City Star.
Emergency crews responded to southbound Interstate 35 near the eastbound Interstate 70, westbound Interstate 670 and southbound 71 Highway split at about 4:30 a.m.
Investigators learned the driver of a Nissan Altima was heading south on I-35 near the split and failed to choose a lane. The vehicle went off the highway and struck a concrete support for the overhead highway signs.
The Nissan driver and two juveniles in the back seat were taken to an area hospital. One of the juveniles was listed in critical condition while the other was in stable condition. The driver’s injuries were not life-threatening.
The investigation includes suspected impairment on the part of the driver.
