JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – Two drivers were hospitalized after their vehicles collided in Johnson County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report.
State troopers and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene on Missouri 13 south of NW 525 Road at 1:48 p.m.
An investigation found that the driver of a 2014 Pontiac Aztek going southbound failed to slow for a southbound 2023 Ram 2500 Promaster Van that was making a turn. The Pontiac crashed into the back of the Ram.
The driver of the Pontiac, 34-year-old Donald Cunningham of Smithton, Missouri, was seriously injured and transported to Centerpoint Hospital. The driver of the Ram, 23-year-old Joshua Ocasio Quinones of Independence, Missouri, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center.
Both of the vehicles were totaled and towed away from the scene.
