BLUE SPRINGS, MO – A car crash injured two people and closed a stretch of Interstate 70 in Blue Springs on Saturday afternoon, according to KCTV.
The wreck happened on westbound I-70 in the area of Adams Dairy Parkway just after 3 p.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the driver of a Kia Sorrento entered a construction zone on the interstate, struck several traffic barrels, hit a cement wall and overturned.
The two occupants of the Kia escaped with minor injuries. The driver, a 30-year-old man from Fayette, Missouri, refused treatment while his 35-year-old passenger was transported to an Independence hospital. Both were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident. A westbound GMC Arcadi was struck with debris, but the driver that vehicle was not hurt.
I-70 was shut down for about three hours while the crash was being cleared and investigated.
