CLAY COUNTY, MO – Three women were seriously injured in a collision in Clay County last week, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident happened Oct. 16 on Interstate 35 at the 26 mile marker at about 6:30 p.m.
State troopers said the driver of a 2o05 Acura was headed south on the interstate when the car went off the roadway, crossed the center median and entered the oncoming lanes. A northbound 2015 Volkswagen then struck the Acura on the passenger side, causing it to go off the roadway and overturn before coming to rest on its top.
The driver of the Acura, 20-year-old Nahni Shaw of Holt, Missouri, was taken to Liberty Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen, 46-year-old Melanie Ramey, and her passenger, 62-year-old Lisa Clubb, were also hospitalized with serious injuries. Both are from Cameron, Missouri. Shaw was not wearing a seat belt while the two occupants of the Volkswagen were wearing theirs, the MSHP, said.
