KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal car accident that occurred early Monday morning.
KCTV reported that the single-vehicle crash happened in the westbound lanes of Interstate 670 in the downtown loop near Troost Avenue.
According to police, the driver of a car lost control while driving on I-670 just after midnight, swerved off the road and struck a piece of equipment belonging to the Missouri Department of Transportation that was parked on the side of the highway.
The car then went across all three lanes of I-670, went off the other side of the highway, and hit several concrete barriers before catching fire.
Police arrived to find that a passenger in the vehicle had died at the scene, while another person was critically injured and taken to an area hospital.
The driver of the car left the scene in another vehicle that arrived at the location, and is now being sought.
