INDEPENDENCE, MO – An investigation is underway after a man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision in Independence late Saturday night, KCTV reports.
The incident happened in the area of North M-291 Frontage Road and East 3rd Terrace Court North, where police officers and first responders arrived shortly before 11:20 p.m. They found a man lying in the roadway who was pronounced dead at the scene, despite attempted life-saving measures. His name was not immediately released.
Evidence at the scene indicated that the man was walking in the area and was hit by a vehicle. The driver sped away before callers reported the crash.
No description has been released yet of the vehicle or the driver involved.
