News: Multi-vehicle collision on ramp in Kansas City kills 2, injures 2

KANSAS CITY, MO – Two people were killed and two others injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Kansas City on Monday afternoon, police said.

Fox 4 KC reported the details of the wreck, which occurred in the area of 71 Highway and Meyer Boulevard at about 12:40 p.m.

According to the Kansas City Police Department’s preliminary investigation, a Subaru Forester and a Ford Escape were stopped at a red light on the exit ramp when a Ford F-150 traveling at an extremely high rate of speed struck them from behind.   The F-150 then sideswiped the Escape before crashing into the rear of the Subaru.

The impact pushed the Subaru across the eastbound lanes of Meyer Boulevard, through the center median and over a concrete wall. The vehicle overturned and landed in the westbound lanes. The F-150 then rotated across the westbound lanes and struck a GMC Sierra heading west on Meyer Boulevard before coming to rest, police said.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the Subaru were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the F-150 was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition.  The driver of the Escape was hospitalized in stable condition with injuries that were not life-threatening.   The driver of the GMC was uninjured.
