KANSAS CITY, MO – A wrong-way accident in Kansas City on Friday night left three people injured, according to police.
KCTV reports details of the crash that took place in the area of US 71 Highway and East 75th Street. Police said the driver of a Nissan Murano was going south in the northbound lanes of US 71 Highway sometime before 7:30 p.m.
After initially going off the road into the median, the Nissan went back onto the highway going north and struck a concrete bridge overpass of East 75th Street.
As the Nissan spun, it was struck by a northbound Ram 1500 pickup truck, which then hit a guardrail and partially overturned.
The driver of the Nissan suffered life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Ram was seriously injured and a passenger in the Ram sustained minor injuries.
The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department is investigating the wreck and said that the Nissan driver is under investigation for possible impairment.
