News: Woman charged in crash that killed motorcyclist in Lee’s Summit

LEE’S SUMMIT, M0 – A woman has been charged in connection with a crash that killed a motorcyclist in Lee’s Summit, KCTV reports.

The accident happened Saturday evening in the area of NE Todd George Parkway and NE Leinweber Road.  An investigation determined that 22-year-old Carly Rudolph was driving a Toyota west on NE Leinweber Road at about 6 p.m. and struck an eastbound motorcycle at the intersection with Todd George Parkway.

The motorcycle rider, identified as 57-year-old Christopher M. Silvers, was ejected from the bike and was taken to an area trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said Rudolph had been driving fast and did not try to slow down before approaching the intersection.  She also showed indications of potential impairment, according to Jackson County prosecutors.

Rudolph was charged with second-degree involuntary manslaughter.  She faces a prison sentence and $10,000 fine if convicted.
