KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City, Missouri police are investigating a collision last week that claimed the life of a scooter rider.
KMBC reports the accident happened shortly before noon on Thursday, near the intersection of East 51st Street and Troost Avenue.
According to police, a person was riding a motorized scooter and crossing at an unmarked crosswalk. The scooter was struck by a Ford Focus headed north at a high rate of speed on Troost Avenue.
The scooter operator was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital. The Ford driver stayed at the scene.
Police are now trying to determine whether impairment was a contributing factor in the incident.
