KANSAS CITY, MO – Police said a scooter rider was rushed to the hospital Thursday afternoon following a crash on a street in Kansas City.
A report by KSHB states the accident involved a scooter and a go-kart, and occurred on N. Van Brunt Boulevard at about 1:30 p.m.
Investigators determined that a caged go-kart was headed across N. Van Brunt Boulevard from east to west at the same time the operator of a Honda scooter was traveling north at a high rate of speed. As the go-kart entered the northbound lanes, the scooter rider tried a faulty evasive maneuver that caused that rider to be ejected.
The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The operator of the go-kart, a juvenile, was not hurt.
Kansas City police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
