News: Police searching for driver who struck pedestrian on Independence Avenue

KANSAS CITY, MO – A pedestrian was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver in Kansas City early Friday morning, the Kansas City Star reports.

 

The incident happened in the area of Independence Avenue and Brighton Avenue, and was reported to police at about 1:23 a.m.

 

Police said the pedestrian was standing on Independence Avenue when they were hit by a red sedan that was headed west. The driver kept going after the crash without stopping to help.

 

The pedestrian, whose identity was not released, was transported to an area hospital and listed in critical condition but was later upgraded to serious condition. Kansas City police are continuing their investigation into the collision and asked anyone with further information to contact them.
