KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police have released new details on a fatal collision that occurred Sunday evening in the Northland area, KCTV reports.
The two drivers killed in the wreck were identified as 36-year-old Amber Rainey and 33-year-old Christa R. Brodigan.
The incident took place along Parvin Road at about 8:20 p.m. Investigators learned that Rainey was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander east at a high rate of speed and crossed over the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic.
The Mitsubishi collided with a westbound Ford Transit van, driven by Brodigan. Rainey, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Brodigan died after being taken to an area hospital.
Two juvenile passengers in the Mitsubishi were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. An adult passenger and an unknown number of juvenile passengers in the van were reported to be in stable condition at a hospital.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the wreck.
