KANSAS CITY, MO – A collision in Kansas City on Saturday night claimed the life of a passenger riding in a Z-Trip vehicle, KMBC reports.
According to police, the Dodge Z-Trip was making a U-turn in the area of East 23rd Street and Kensington Avenue when the accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. The vehicle was struck by a westbound Hyundai Accent that was speeding, investigators said. The impact caused the Dodge to hit a rock wall, causing the rear passenger to be partially ejected and pinned between the wall and the vehicle.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The Hyundai driver was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries, while the Dodge driver received private transportation to the hospital.
Investigators are trying to determine whether the Hyundai driver was impaired at the time of the wreck.
