JACKSON COUNTY, MO – State troopers said two drivers were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle wreck in Jackson County Wednesday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report stated that three vehicles were involved in the incident on northbound Interstate 470 north of Woods Chapel Road in Lee’s Summit.
Investigators found that the driver of a 2016 Jeep Cherokee ran off the roadway and struck a stationary 2018 Dodge Charger. The impact pushed the Dodge into a 2023 Volkswagen Atlas. The Volkswagen went off the roadway to the left while the Jeep went off the road to the right.
The driver of the Jeep, 73-year-old Tommy Johnson of Lee’s Summit, and the driver of the Dodge, 27-year-old Jose Medina of Centerton, Arkansas, were both taken to Centerpoint Hospital with moderate injuries. Both were wearing their seat belts.
The MSHP was assisted at the crash scene by the Lee’s Summit Police Department.
