PLATTE COUNTY, MO – One driver was killed and another injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Platte County last week.
The incident occurred Friday morning on Interstate 29 north of Northwest 64th Street, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The MSHP ‘s crash report stated that a 2011 Dodge 1500 and a 2017 Cadillac XT5 had slowed for traffic on I-29 north at about 11:54 a.m. A 2019 Volkswagen Beetle struck the rear of the Dodge. After impact, the Dodge spun and hit the back of the Cadillac.
The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as 70-year-old Michael Mahoney of Olathe, Kansas, was pronounced dead after being taken to North Kansas City Hospital. The driver of the Dodge, 59-year-old Nancy McGuire of Platte City, Missouri, was hospitalized with minor injuries. The driver of the Cadillac was not injured.
