INDEPENDENCE, MO – One driver was killed and two others injured when their vehicles collided in Independence on Friday afternoon, according to police.
KCTV reports the three vehicles were involved in an accident in the vicinity of Missouri 291 Highway and Gudgell Road at about 1:10 p.m. An initial investigation indicated that the driver of a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling south on the highway and crashed into the rear of a 2019 GMC Acadia. That collision caused the Acadia to strike a 2009 Honda Civic.
The Nissan driver, whose identity was not released, suffered fatal injuries. The drivers of the Honda and the GMC were hospitalized but there was no immediate word on their conditions.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the fatal pileup.
