KANSAS CITY, MO – Police said three vehicles were involved in a serious crash in Kansas City early Friday morning.
According to KSHB, the incident began when the driver of a Chevrolet pulled over on Interstate 435 near Bannister Road at about 5:30 a.m. with electrical problems. The driver turned on the car’s hazards and another driver stopped to help.
At that point, police said the driver of a southbound Ford Explorer going at highway speed in the inside lane struck both vehicles that had stopped on the shoulder, causing the Ford to overturn.
The occupants of the Ford were hospitalized with serious injuries, while the Chevrolet driver was also taken to the hospital. All the injured victims were listed in stable condition.
I-435 south was shut down past South 87th Street while the scene was being cleared and investigated.
