KANSAS CITY, MO – Police said a collision in Kansas City Saturday night claimed the life of a motorcycle rider.
The Kansas City Star reports the incident happened in the city’s Northland area, at the intersection of U.S. 169 Highway and Northwest Barry Road.
Police said the operator of a Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed east on Barry Road at a high rate of speed at about 10:30 p.m. and failed to stop at a red light. The driver of a Ford Fusion who had been stopped at a red light on the ramp from U.S. 169 began to enter the intersection when the light turned green, and was struck by the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and went over the top of the Ford. He died after being taken to an area hospital. The motorcycle rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. The driver and a passenger in the Ford were not injured.
