INDEPENDENCE, MO – Independence police and first responders were called to the scene of a motorcycle crash early Wednesday morning.
According to details reported by KCTV, the accident happened in the area of Blue Ridge Boulevard and Cedar Avenue shortly before 3:10 a.m. Police said the operator of a 2002 Honda Shadow motorcycle was headed west on Blue Ridge Boulevard when he veered off the roadway and crashed.
The driver, a 29-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition. He was not wearing a Missouri Department of Transportation-approved helmet at the time of the crash.
Investigators looking into the incident believe that high speed was a contributing factor.
