CLAY COUNTY, MO – A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver near Smithville Lake, KCTV reported.
The accident took place Sunday evening on Litton Way near DD Highway. According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a Chevrolet Cruze and a Harley Davidson motorcycle collided at about 7:40 p.m.
The 34-year-old man driving the motorcycle suffered injuries that were life-threatening and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities said the driver of the car was in custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
