News: Missouri DOT worker struck, killed by semi while working on Route O

SEDALIA, MO – A senior maintenance worker with the Missouri Department of Transportation died following an accident in Pettis County on Tuesday morning, WDAF reported.

 

The victim was identified as 60-year-old Jay Bone of Smithton, Missouri.  According to MoDOT, he was working on Route O outside Sedalia at about 11:15 a.m. when he was hit by a Peterbilt 379 semi-truck.    Bone, who had worked with the department since 2015, was pronounced dead at the scene.   He had been working on a pavement repair project between U.S. 50 and Route N at the time of the incident.

 

No charges were immediately filed against the 18-year-old driver of the semi-truck.
