News: Man standing outside car on Missouri 210 fatally struck by vehicle

KANSAS CITY, MO – A driver was fatally struck by a vehicle after being involved in a prior accident in Kansas City Wednesday morning, police said.

According to WDAF, the first incident happened on Missouri 210 west at about 5:30 a.m.   An investigation indicated that the driver of a Hyundai Accent struck a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was stopped in traffic.

Both drivers exited their vehicles and called 911.  The driver of the Hyundai was standing outside the door of the car on the shoulder of the road after putting his flashers on.  Police said the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado spotted the flashers and tried to swerve at the last moment but struck the driver of the Hyundai.

The victim, whose name was not released, died at the scene.  The driver of the Silverado was not injured.
