News: Independence woman dies after being hit by vehicle on I-70

JACKSON COUNTY, MO – The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported details of a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred late Saturday night in Jackson County.

 

According to the MSHP’s crash log, the incident happened on Interstate 70 eastbound just west of Adams Dairy Parkway in Blue Springs at about 11:06 p.m..

 

State troopers said the driver of a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta was heading east on I-70 as a pedestrian was standing on the roadway. The driver, a 16-year-old male from Odessa, Missouri, attempted to swerve but the front right of the vehicle hit the pedestrian.

 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and was identified as 24-year-old AnnaMarie Ramirez of Indepence.

The MSHP was assisted at the scene by the Blue Springs Police Department.
